Because a bigot vote and an ignorant vote is still a vote.
Here’s the story from @huffpo, with the important part in bold:
An awkward moment occurred at Mitt Romney’s town hall event in Cleveland, Ohio on Monday when an audience member, in the process of asking him a question, asserted that President Barack Obama should be tried for treason. Romney remained silent during the question-and-answer session, only to saythat he “of course” did not agree with the sentiment while greeting voters after the event.
The incident nevertheless illustrated what seems likely to be a tricky proposition for Romney as the general election season progresses: balancing the anti-Obama sentiments of the party’s base with the need to maintain a civil level of discourse.
“We have a president right now that is operating outside the structure of our Constitution,” the audience member said to applause. “And I want to know — yeah, I do agree he should be tried for treason — but I want to know what you would be able to do to restore balance between the three branches of government and what you are going to be able to do to restore our Constitution in this country.”
Romney didn’t correct the woman, choosing instead to address the question she posed.
Paula Smith of Hinesville, Georgia has doesn’t understand why people are so upset about her anti-Obama “Don’t Re-Nig” bumper sticker at Stickatude.com.
<- Yes, Paula. Racist.
Poor Roger Friedman, of Forbes magazine had the brains and wherewithall to track this woman down - my guess is through her WHOIS information - and managed to spend a little time getting dirtied up by her ignorance.
I’ve cut and pasted the interview, but you should reallysupport the journalism and visit the whole thing here. There fact that he caught this woman with her guard down and her bigot up is astonishing and should be rewarded with multiple hits.
Exclusive: Paula Smith of Hinesville, Georgia has a company called Stickatude.com. And they’re selling their own version of an anti-Obama bumper sticker that reads “Don’t Re-Nig 2012.”
Ms. Smith told me in a telephone conversation on Saturday afternoon that the bumper sticker has been in their inventory since June 2010, but just in the last few days it’s started selling. The price is $3. Ms. Smith insisted that the bumper sticker is not racist. I asked her about the “N” word, for which “nig” is the shortened version. “According to the dictionary [the N word] does not mean black. It means a low down, lazy, sorry, low down person. That’s what the N word means.”
In Webster’s New Collegiate Dictionary, the word is defined as “member of any dark skinned race. Taken to be offensive.” Dictionary.com says the word “is now probably the most offensive word in English. Its degree of offensiveness has increased markedly in recent years, although it has been used in a derogatory manner since at least the Revolutionary War. Definitions 1a, 1b, and 2 represent meanings that are deeply disparaging and are used when the speaker deliberately wishes to cause great offense.”
Ms. Smith — who has an affable disposition and a hearty laugh–said she thought the website was “dead” and up until recently none of her bumper stickers was selling at all. Another site, called Stumpy’s Stickers, was originally credited with selling the Obama sticker. Ms. Smith says however she doesn’t own that site and didn’t know anything about it. She said Stumpy’s Stickers could have linked to their site, but she didn’t sell them any that they could have re-sold. Where did Ms. Smith find the sticker in the first place? “We just found it on the internet, and thought it was cute. It’s been up there since he’s been president.”
How did I find Stickatude.com? Clicking on Stumpysstickers.com from a story posted to Yahoo! caused a redirect to Stickatude. Ms. Smith is the official registered owner of the internet address, www.stickatude.com.
The Smiths own a well known paint ball field in Hinesville — a town nearSavannah. Mrs. Smith said customers come from all over the world. Ms. Smith said she is not racist, she just wants Obama out of office. She tells me she doesn’t have a preferred replacement candidate. “And besides Obama is not even black. He’s got a mixture of race. It’s his choice of what his nationality is. I’m a mixed breed. I call myself a Heinz 57,” she says, referring to an ancestry that’s part of French, Scottish, and German.
“I just want someone that’s going to help the United States and not give it other countries all the time. And stop giving the immigrants the benefits that most Americans inside their own states can’t even get because they’re giving it others who don’t even live here as an American.
“I do find it amazing and entertaining that one of our stickers has become a racist thing,” Ms. Smith told me. I asked her if she thought the “N” Word was a bad word? “No,” she said, ” because I don’t use it. I have kids here around me that are black kids. I call them my own kids. I’ve helped black families…to guide them in the right direction. Paintball is one of these things. We like to laugh and have a good time. That’s our way of life.”
So there you go. Just an affable southern gal that doesn’t understand how this horrifyingly racist sticker could possibly be racist.
So, maybe we could show her a little hospitality and explain it to her?
You can writer her at MrsLocoPaintball@gmail.com and let her know how you feel. That’s the paintball field where she helps black kids. I’m sure it’s a safe environment to walk around and be a minority.
You won’t find the bumper sticker on her website at Stickatude anymore, but you could leave a comment there. Lots of other lovely bumper stickers attacking the president, if using one of the most vilified words in the english dictionary aren’t your speed.
Or, you could go to her Scentsy page on Facebook, and try to post something on her wall, That’s where she sells scented candles, ostensibly to mask the smell of whatever bile she spews out whilst showing affable disposition and a hearty laugh.
And finally. if you felt like it, you could probably call her at Low Country Paintball. Look up the number or the website. It’s not hard to find.
Lots of ways to explain exactly what’s wrong with the sticker, the term and her attitude. Don’t expect her to get it though, because even though the Obama sticker has been replaced with this:
She still maintains this:
See, I don’t know this woman. All I can guess is that she’s never had anybody in her life that was willing to say “Um, yeah. You are a bigot. Here’s why.” And maybe give her a chance to understand that.
It won’t be me, tho. I’m just distributing something (information) without any clue as to the repercussions of doing so. Maybe it will result in a deluge of E-mails, phone calls, faxes and the like.
But be kind. Smile when you make your point. Speak in small words with a big heart that explains things to her very, very slowly. Take the high road with the lady from Low Country Paintball.
I want to have an affable disposition about this, and share a hearty laugh when however many of you make your opinions known do just that.

Kasich info rom Crooks and Liars
First, there were the tornadoes.
Leaving battered citizens trying to figure out what to do next. What they do, is turn to the government because THAT’S where the government should step in. To help in time of crisis and need.
Unless you’ve elected a Tea Party tool, in which case, your state is out of luck.
Ohio Gov. John Kasich said thanks but no thanks to immediate federal disaster relief Saturday, even as governors in Indiana and Kentucky welcomed the help.
Kasich did not rule out asking for assistance later, but his decision means tornado-ravaged towns in Ohio will not get federal aid now and are not eligible at this time for potentially millions of dollars in payments and loans.
The governor said Ohio can respond to the crisis without federal help and he would not ask federal authorities to declare the region a disaster area.
“I believe that we can handle this,” Kasich said while visiting a shelter for storm victims at New Richmond High School. “We’ll have down here all the assets of the state.”
Clermont County Commissioner Bob Proud said he is confident the state can handle cleanup in hard-hit areas, such as Moscow. But he said federal help might be needed in the near future, especially with temporary housing for residents.
Confident? Who cares? Regular people are in need right now.
But this heartless twit Kasich is so busy making his point, and so busy trying to make sure Obama can’t “take credit” for anything, that he’s willing to let his own people suffer.
Now, couple that with this piece front the LA Times:

Residents here were all for balancing Ohio’s budget. They didn’t expect that to mean their town would cease to exist.
This small village of low-slung houses and squeaky swing sets in western Ohio’s farm country has already laid off its part-time police officer and decided not to replace its maintenance worker, who recently retired. To save cash, Mayor William Rolston will propose Monday that the town turn off the street lights, and that Uniopolis disincorporate after more than a century in existence.
“We’ve decided that with the budget cuts, we just can’t do it anymore,” said Rolston, the mayor of 19 years, speaking from the town’s one-room municipal building, its wallpaper covered with heart-shaped American flags. “About the only thing that can save it now is an act of God.”
And in just 48 hours or so, you can see the results of heartlessly cutting budgets with nothing but ideology to guide you.
This is you, Florida, if you get hit by a hurricane. This is you, Wisconsin, if anything happens up there (Methane explosion from the cows?). This is you, America, if you keep putting these rigid ideologues into office.
My heart goes out to all of the victims of these disasters. I specifically edited out the rants on “Climate Change” because it’s not about that. This is a very specific point:
If you cut without thinking, you’re not a surgeon, you’re a thug. You might as well be a guy in an alley with a knife, because all you cause is damage.
Here’s the tea party folks: So intent on “Taking the Country Back” they don’t really give a crap how battered it is, as long as they win.
I sit on the floor of O’Hare airport, on my way to a #Packers game.
The Green Bay Packers… the only team in the NFL still owned by people - not a corporation or a billionaire.
And there the Packers sit, undefeated. Maybe I’m jinxing it, but this post is not about that. This is post is about this guy here and a victory that is much more important.:

And how starting tomorrow, it’s time for this proud state to kick his arrogant butt out of office.
It started in Ohio, as Republicans got slapped in the Great Overreach of 2011. Now here’s this guy, who’s started it at the behest of his Koch pals. Petitions are going out there… they need 500K+ signatures. Double it. Triple it. Make it embarrassing.
If Walker faces defeat, everyone of those eight candidates preaching Tea Party lunacy - the whole gang of Waterboarders and warmongers and bible thumpers (caveats on Paul and Huntsman) will have to re-evaluate just how fringy they want to be in the election.
If Scott Walker’s job is at risk, they will all wonder: “Crap, am I next?” And that answer is YES. So…
1) Go Pack Go.
2) Go Recall Go (Starting tomorrow!)
3) So it’s Gone Walker Gone
.
From Wisconsin…

Ha! Oh, man. I had hoped this thing was going to go down in flames, but I didn’t expect it to pull the full Hindenburg.
It’s the first in what I feel/hope is going to be a trend - Republicans who overreach getting their hands slapped by the voters.
No way Scott Walker sleeps well tonight. No way the Republican candidates running for President don’t look at this and re-evaluate their positions. Poor Romney. He’s going to have to have an opinion… and then have another one.
Nicely done, Ohio. Your vote on #2 has made you #1.
CLEVELAND, Ohio — Ohioans — including voters throughout Northeast Ohio — are trashing Issue 2.
The result, if the trend holds up, will be the repeal of Senate Bill 5, which drastically changed the state’s collective bargaining law for public employees.
So far, with about 267,000 votes counted, Issue 2 is still failing — with about 67 percent of voters saying “No.”
Here’s what Issue 2 is about: It is allowing voters decide whether to keep or repeal Senate Bill 5 - a historic rewrite of Ohio’s collective bargaining law, originally passed in 1983.
The choice voters faced today was this:
A “yes” vote was to preserve Ohio’s new collective bargaining law.
A “no” ballot was a vote to repeal that law. On Monday, AFL-CIO
President Richard Trumka led a canvassing of Cleveland neighborhoods in a last-day effort to defeat Issue 2.
Meanwhile, Republican Ohio Gov. John Kasich continues to stump for preserving the new law, commonly known by its legislative name, Senate Bill 5. The bill was a dramatic rewrite of Ohio’s collective bargaining law, originally passed nearly 30 years ago.
(Writer’s Note: If the numbers radically flip between now and the end of tabulation, I’m going to be extremely embarrassed but… for now… huzzah.)
